Surgical Experiences of Perforations of the Duodenum

Abstract
Any perforation of the wall of the duodenum, whether caused by trauma, inflammation, benign ulceration, or malignancy, is a serious surgical problem and is still associated with a high mortality in spite of much improvement of surgical techniques.
Even skillful surgeon became flurried occasionally in the operation of duodenal perforation cases because of special anatomical situation of the duodenum, the proximity of the common bile duct, the pancreas and its ducts; the fixed retroperitoneal location; and vulnerable vascular supply.
The authors have experienced 7 cases of duodenal perforation during past 5 years, 2. cases caused by afferent loop obstruction after gastrectoniiy, 1 case by pericholecystic abscess and 4 cases by nonpenetrating abdominal blunt trauma.
We will present our cases and discuss the practical aspects of the management.
